Circuit de Catalunya - Montmeló 22-24.5.2009

This year´s complete dead failure was the race in Montmeló. The two Friday´s trainings run well, without any complications and Míra was achieving good times, which had asured him the first row in Montmeló before. We were awaiting a slight improvement, but unfortunately against all odds, Míra finished on the 13th position in the first measured training. He entered the second measured training with a strong belief in improvement and determined to cut the time and move forward in the starting grid. We changed the transmission in the last minute and Míra left to fight the time. His endeavour ended in the fourth minute, when a sudden bang echoed in the third curve after the start and he fell down. Míra did not manage to catch it on the clutch. Unfortunately a brazilian rider Granado hit him on his back, who did not manage it as well and they both were rolling around, fortunately without injuries. This was the end of the measured trainings for Míra. He got the 14th place in the starting grid (fourth row). When the engineers demonted the engine it was found out, that the shaft of the crank was ripped off. The engine´s head and the Míra´s overall could be seen on the photo in photogalery. Míra got a spare engine from Metrakit, so he could race. Even that the engine was old, we were glad for it. The start of the race was quite smooth and Míra was 11th after the first lap. Unfortunately in the fourth lap the engine broke down and Míra was to leave the race from the 9th position. Statement of the fact, that this was the third race out of four, which was not finished due to the technical problems, was not positive. We do not remember a worse result.
